Sharing My Experiences On Twitter Marketing

Years ago, there was a big campaign on Twitter marketing tools. Twitter was seen as a great new way of getting a list of people whom you could target to sell your products. Cutting through the hype, just what type of results can you expect after making use of these Twitter marketing tools? We will discuss Twitter marketing and whether or not it is worth your time and expense as part of your online marketing tactic.

I was one of those who was curious to find out if getting a huge following on Twitter was going to help my product promotion campaigns and so bought the tools. I ended up buying and joining programs that would get me followers and programs that would actually advertise my products for me. Altogether, I think I purchased about 8 software programs to help with my Twitter marketing venture.

One of these software tools was an automatic ‘people follower’ on Twitter with the intention that some of those people would follow me in return. If anyone was not following me, I had another tool that would automatically remove them from my to-follow list. Deleting non-followers meant I could devote my attention on other people who might be swayed to follow me. Amongst other tools I bought, there was one which automatically tweeted a blog post just as soon as it was posted to my blog. In the beginning, I was genuinely pleased with the end results after using the programs in combination as they really delivered on what they promised. I was speedily brought down to earth when I looked at my spreadsheet and found that I wasn’t actually making any money! Daily I would post about ten blog entries knowing that they would then automatically be shown on Twitter also. Aiming to increase the number of daily posts, I found a way to automatically post any number of entries to my blog and hopefully obtain more followers.

Well, here are my results: After three years utilizing these Twitter marketing tools, I had gained almost 10,000 Twitter followers. You’d probably be really delighted to have that number of followers, but there’s more to come. In the same 3 year period, my Twitter account collected more than 15,000 blog posts that had links to my affiliate advertisements. Apart from that, I did no other promotion for that blog, as a matter of fact I didn’t even ping the new blog entries to discover how good Twitter was could be. Well I found, in the last 3 years I generated 2 affiliate sales for a total of $48, and I generated $8.52 with Adsense. And that specific blog only gets about 2 to 4 visitors daily from Twitter.

Basically, having nearly 10,000 followers on Twitter using all these Twitter marketing tools will not give you the results you desire. The bottom line is that the money I’ve pulled in is not sufficient to cover the cost of the Twitter software I bought to start with. In conclusion, I cannot personally recommend using automatic software tools as a good means of promoting products on Twitter.
